What was started in the Wuhan city of China in December 2019, Corona Virus, has spread to all corners of the world today. The Novel Corona Virus or Covid-19 is shaking even the superpower nations. It seems that the situation is like world war. But this time, the world war is due to Novel Corona Virus. Futurologists, scientists, movie makers, writers and others have predicted this kind of an uncontrollable pandemic decades back. But none has expected this to be a reality. At the last count, there are 70,172 people dead, 12,82,041 affected and 2,69,451 recovered worldwide.
Global and local transport are stopped in almost all parts of the world. Half of the Earth has come to a standstill due to this deadly corona virus. Work is disturbed, people are not able to move out freely, income is not sure, businesses are hit heavily, educational institutions are shut and many unimaginable things are happening.
Mental, emotional, physical and social health of the world nations are also changing. Some are good, some are bad and some are worst. Forgetting enmity, some people are helping in this worst times. Forgetting close friendship, people are getting aggressive due to corona virus spread. People are struggling for essentials. Grocery, vegetables, meat, fuel, clothes, alcohol, cigarettes and other fast moving consumer demands are not available easily. The non vegetarians are struggling to eat vegetarian food. Vegetarians are finding it difficult to eat monotonous food items. Those who drink alcohol regularly are not getting their supply. Same with the smokers. Suddenly the world has become tops-turvy.
Governments have taken severe measures to control Covid-19. In the well educated and rich countries like United States of America (USA) and United Kingdom (UK), public are violating strict rules imposed by their governments. Despite lockdown, public are moving freely in the parks, beaches and on the roads. Without listening to the awareness campaigns about the consequences of Covid-19, public are on the streets. Social distancing are tossed in the air and they enjoy freely without paying heed to the danger call sounded by their governments. China, the motherland of Corona virus was able to crack down the virus in its birth city of Wuhan because of its longstanding control regime of Communism. Nearly after four months of the beginning of onslaught of Corona Virus, the world is not sure about the real human loss in China. Some say that 10 to 20 million people are missing. But the official figure of Chinese government put the human loss at 3331.
Three major telecom companies of China – China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom Hong Kong Ltd reported a subscriber loss of 8 million, 5.6 million and 1.2 million respectively in the months of January and February. This may be due to the withdrawal of work sim used by the migrant laborers not due to the deaths as rumored in certain circles.
Whether China lost millions of its people or not, world has lost over 70,000 people till today. According to JP Morgan, world economy has contracted 12% in the months of January, February and March. Stock markets, labor markets and all other markets have tumbled. Without rest of the world recovering, China cannot have its economy in its good health.
